Accessories. Some people are scared of how to style them but really they are just the ticket to transform any outfit. When I first lay eyes on the work of Cleo Ferin Mercury I knew that her fun sense of style would fit perfectly within my wardrobe so I was excited to get right in about her collections.
I love to wear shirts under my dresses and jumpers mostly to add colour contrast so when I was asked to choose something from the website it was a real battle of the kitsches. I had seen her incredible Tiger scarves sprawled across the internet, I’d swooned over her colourful vintage style scarves but give me fruits, maracas and seashells all on a silk detachable collar? Well…that just takes my biscuit. A girl after my own heart, London based designer Cleo Ferin Mercury is inspired by the colourful kisch ways of the 1950’s. Working with traditional shapes and ideas, she updates the old school by using bold colours and prints. I love that she was taught the ways of her trade by her Parisian Grandmother who told her all she needed to know about needle work. I remember my Gran teaching me how to knit, “knit one, pearl two” she said. Don’t ask me
I decided to wear my collar with an old Cos Tangerine number. The bright colour and the felty texture complimented the silk exaggerated shape beautifully and finished off with my fast becoming favourites, my Dorothy Perkins Sandals. Orange hair and an orange dress would not be complete without orange lips. I can’t get enough of this Clinique Chubby Stick in Poppin’ Poppy. They are less intense from the lipsticks I am used to, but moisturise and plump up your pout leaving a soft hint of colour behind. How would you wear your Cleo Ferin Mercury?
