I have been counting down the years to minutes until I had an invite to one of the most glamorous events in the country and at long last my time has come!  The Scottish Style Awards in association with Moët & Chandon are BACK and this year it’s taking the biscuit.

Living up to its reputation as the nation’s most stylish event of the year, Saturday the 9th of November will find the A list sashaying their way inside Glasgow’ breath taking Kelvingrove Art Gallery to join local legend Mike Keat –  frontman of the The Cuban Brothers – as he turns excitement all the way to 11 and celebrates Scottish Style.

The great thing about the Scottish Style Awards is that it credits creativity and flair across all areas of expression, from Most Stylish Retailer, Designer, Musician as well as the cream of the Scottish Hospitality crop. Here are this years fabulous nominees and who Betty is flying the flag for, is it obvious that I’m a Glasgow girl?!

Most Stylish Restaurant Nominees: Castle Terrace, Edinburgh; Central Market, Glasgow; Ondine, Edinburgh; Scran & Scallie, Edinburgh; The Jefferson, Kilmarnock

Betty Loves: Central Market, Glasgow – Now, I’ve only been for an Eggs Benedict, but my God do these guys know how to poach an egg…they got my vote!central-market-glasgow-by-ash-paterson-3-lst106887

Betty Loves: Ooooh now this is a toughy! After going to see Fleetwood Mac in the Hydro a few weeks ago, I couldn’t help but be impressed with everything that surrounded me. The head says “CHOOSE IT!” but the heart sways to my beloved little sweatbox that is The Berkley Suite. Womenswear Designer of the Year Nominees: Henrietta Ludgate, Philip Colbert for The Rodnik Band; Judy Clark; Aimee McWilliams; Deetz

Betty Loves: This. Is. So. DIFFICULT!!!!! What a category!! With such strong nominees I have decided to follow my whimsy heart and give my undying love and affection to Philip Colbert for The Rodnik Band. Looking at the below photo, if you can find any other designers who encapsulate fun with pop culture as well as this, well I’d tip my hat to you my friend!  I NEED one of these dresses in my life and don’t even get me started on the handbags, pop art fashion at its best.

Menswear Designer of the Year Nominees: Patrick Grant for E.Tautz; Kenneth McKenzie for 6876; Cathal McAteer for Folk; Gianni Collarossi for Duchamp; Kestin Hare for Common People

Betty Loves: It is great that Menswear have their own category this year and what a strong one it is! I have always been a big fan of Common People’s aesthetic, I feel it’s the type of brand I would like to see my man in – if I had one!

And there you have it! What’s your thoughts on the nominees? I feel all have their strengths and every category has a battle on their hands – perhaps the real fights are gonna be on the red carpet, all I know is I don’t envy those judges! Now I just need to figure out WHO’MA GONNA WEAR?!
