So after months of preparation, nurturing, train rides and deadlines, itison Events has finally launched in Edinburgh! WOOO!
itison Edinburgh Events feat. Penhaligons, Molton Brown, Hamleys and of course Conde Nast Exhibition
I manage the Fashion/Beauty and Retail strand and let me tell you, yer all in for a real treat with what we’ve got coming for you – no matter what your intae! My favourite event so far? Coming into Fashion: A Century of Photography at Condé Nast at the Edinburgh City Art Centre.
John Rawlings for Vogue, March 1943
These kinds of (fashion) opportunities do not come to Scotland often enough so when I heard about Edinburgh’s City Art Centre adding to the exhibition with a whole programme of events, I knew we needed to get involved!
Launching on the 15th of June and open until 8th of September, the exhibition shows early work by such photographers as Cecil Beaton, Erwin Blumenfeld, Helmut Newton, David Bailey, Guy Bourdin, Corinne Day, Mario Testino and Sølve Sundsbø as it appeared in the pages of Vogue, Tatler and other Condé Nast publications.
Deborah Turbeville for Vogue, May 1975
We all need to give virtual thanks to the exhibition curator Nathalie Herschdorfer, who had unprecedented access to the Condé Nast archives in New York, Paris, London and Milan and hand picked work of over eighty photographers and editors notes from over the past 100 years for the display.
Norman Parkinson for Glamour, October 1949
The exhibition isn’t the only thing happnin down at the City Art Centre, Public Programme Manager, Margaret Findlay has created a fabulous events programme which will also run from June – September featuring some amazing events from brilliant local talent including Rebecca Torres, JRF Rogue Milliner, William Chambers, Jaggy Nettle and more!
Thursday 29th August – Jaggy Nettle DIY A Global Collective – Reversing the Trend (link coming soon!)
Saturday 7th of September – Rebecca Torres Presents, DIMENSIONS (link coming soon!)
Keep and eye out for all of the above events (some not launched on itison Events YET!) which are all FREE when purchasing a ticket to the exhibition, which may I add you can save £1 on if you purchase through the itison Edinburgh Events page. Just remember to register for the email blast, there are many MANY more events where that came from!
