There’s nothing I love more in wardrobes than a pop of colour. Hell, even if neutral shades are your jam, there’s something about the summer that invites us to throw on shades brighter than the sun, and a statement handbag is the perfect way to dip that experimental toe in the water. The hardest part? Deciding what colour to invest in, but I am here to help!
Shopping for a new everyday handbag is every accessory addicts dream, but what can be difficult is avoiding that ever predictable safety net. I need a lot from my handbags, I have always been pretty heavy handed with my everyday pieces and expect my handbags to keep up with that! That’s why I like to invest in brands like Radley. Tried and tested, loved by many (including maybe your Granny!) Radley London have upped my handbag game for a few years now. What with designer collaborations, super classic designs and stunning colour pallet, the brand build bags to last and I’m not just talking aesthetically, but in your wardrobe too.
Choosing the perfect colour for you should be top priority, as it is in any investment piece. You must estimate the ‘cost per wear’ and predict at least 3 outfits that you could wear it with. At the moment, I am wearing a lot of blue and rust colours. Infact, I have dreams of one day having a wardrobe that magically all goes together, but I think that’ll be more of a pinch me moment, if it ever comes! For me, yellow was the perfect colour to add into my wardrobe. Firstly, I don’t have a bag of the same colour, and secondly it goes well with my safety colours of choice. This means that pretty much all my outfits can havea no brainer POP whenever I see fit. Which is all the time, obvs!
Being the type of person who is drawn to personality pieces, dressing in themes comes somewhat naturally for me. I can’t draw, or play an instrument, so I feel fashion is my form of self expression. Basically, I love to play dress up with the beautiful things I find and collect, playing matchmaker with each item of my wardrobe. So when I first laid eyes on this little 60’s ray of sunshine, I knew it was a match made in heaven with this incredible Cat and Cactus shirt from Silken Favours. Basically, I dressed up as a kitsch sunny desert in Mexico, but now with cats – no I’m not crazy, I am just in LOVE with this outfit.
In keeping with the 60’s vibe, I went for this little shift style play suit and this incredible pistachio leather blazer with this Lea Stein esque brooch I found at a flea market in New York. I just love when an outfit comes together, don’t you?
