I was one of the lucky ones to grab one of the beautiful Tulle Dresses from the Lanvin for H&M collection. That day was crazy; the ques, the shrieking, the grabbing, the growlers, it was manic. Weeks past and there were some unhappy looking trench coats and pink dresses still lurking around. It makes me sad to see the scraps which were left behind. That is why I was delighted to hear that H&M are turning those unloved leftovers into wonderful fresh new pieces! Ladies and Gentleman I present to you, the Waste Collection.

The new collection features 60s shifts and cropped jackets with bold, bright harlequin designs. These bad boys will only be available in selected H&Ms so I’ll be making a trip down to Buchanan Street to the Glasgow store to see if I can get a swatch of these pieces face to face. I also seen some pics of some of the models wearing the suit carriers from the Lanvin Collection as dresses. This has made me feel less drawn to the ‘Waste’ collection and turn my attention to recycling my own suit carrier. I’ll keep you posted with my progress!

Although I think recycling the Lanvin castoffs is a wonderful idea, I find it ironic that this is the same Swedish chain that was found to be dumping hundreds of unworn clothing outside their New York Flagship Store, even though there was a homeless shelter about 100 yards away. I wish that they would consider doing more collections like this instead of wasting it. H&M we love you so in the interest of being Eco friendly, put yer money where yer mouth is and WASTE NO MORE!

I have heard that many shops just cut up their wasted clothing and dump it, never to be loved again. I find this sickening. As a regular visitor to my local Shelter, I believe all clothes deserve a second chance. Every season, like a shop I recommend you go through your trunks, drawers and wardrobes and rethink your whole collection. Someone may be inspired by the things you no longer show the light of day to.
