Some people dread shopping for underwear. Others consider shopping for jeans a process that can lead you to tears. For me, I’ve never not ended a session of eyeglasses shopping without choking back the rage at the optometrist’s. And, as someone who’s needed glasses ever since I can remember, I’ve built a lifetime of rage when it comes down to the cost of great eyewear. Lucky for all us speccy four eyes, new brand IOLLA have come to the rescue!

When it comes to wearing glasses, I am pretty lucky to have a face for them. I suit most styles, shapes and colours and I couldn’t imagine walking out the house without them. Well, apart from the fact that I wouldn’t be able to see! Where some people don’t like seeing themselves in glasses, I have the complete opposite problem. I feel like I can’t even look someone in the eye without them! They are like my superman cape, once they are on my head is held high and I am ready to seize the day.  The problem I find is finding interesting enough specs that don’t cost and arm, a leg and an overdraft. I’m not one for your staple metal rectangular frames, as it seems with interesting eyewear comes expensive price tags! Thanks to IOLLA, long gone are the days of spending hours weeding through hundreds of frames that all look sorta the same. Using only the highest quality components, Glasgow born eyewear brand IOLLA have taken the stress out of glasses shopping. And I cannot thank them enough, I mean, just look at these new cat eyes!

With luxury Italian acetate, quality German hinges and beautiful attention to detail, IOLLA have thought of everything to create luxurious eyewear without the matching price tag. If you are a full-time glasses wearer like me, you will have probably tried online shopping before. You know how it goes, the nerves kick in straight after you leave the checkout, and when your little package comes through the door, your let down when you try on and see that close up, all rectangles look square via a computer screen. IOLLA have solved this problem by creating an online shopping experience which is only enhanced by their showroom space where people can come in, relax and try on at their leisure. There’s no optometrists breathing down your neck, or ridiculous hidden prices, all these frames come in at just £65 including lenses. To say that they have made eyewear shopping easy inst enough, they’ve made it affordable too without forgetting the quality.

IOLLA launched with some really stylish signature styles that would easily be mistaken by other high-quality brands like Oliver Peoples or Ray Ban. I had a real hard time choosing my favourite, from effortlessly classic shapes to some stunning and unusual Italian acetates, I was trying on pairs for well over an hour! I know what you are thinking, these are just another pair of cat eyes, but they are not! I completely fell for these Grey and White tortoiseshell acetates the first time I saw them. The cat eye is a go-to shape for me, but it was colours and the print that got me hooked. They pretty much go with anything, but they set off my vintage inspired Boden shift (and many other looks) ever since I got them!

Glasses – IOLLA, Dress- Boden, Necklace – John and Pearl,

Shoes – Miista, Bag – H&M

I know for a fact that this won’t be my last pair from IOLLA. I think I need to go back for some of the lighter tan frames, the colour is so unusual and at that price it will be hard to resist! People don’t wear the same shoes with every outfit, so why do we think that of our glasses? IOLLA have made all the eyewear possibilities come true, no matter what your bank balance reads! Make sure you check them out online and down on the Finnieston Strip.

  1. Hey Betty! You look stunning in those frames! I’m desperately after a new pair after three years of looking like Buddy Holly and I was just wondering if you minded me asking whether or not you had to have the lenses thinned/ if you would recommend getting them thinned? I’m -4.5 so my lenses are usually pretty thick if that helps, thank you :)
p.s. love the blog and I’m really sorry about the fiestastylista thing you totally deserved to win :(

  2. Awwww that’s so kind of you to say! Yea I was pretty gutted if I’m honest! I do get my lenses thinned, I’m around the same as you prescription wise and thinning and anti glare make all the difference! Good luck on your search, I’d definitely have a look at IOLLA! Xx
