I am such a magpie for movement in clothes, which is why I’ve always been drawn to fringing. Whether it be on the sleeves of a jacket, bag or skirt ala Christopher Kane SS16, I am in love with anything that dances with the slightest breeze. People laughed when I said that the ‘sound of suede soothes me’ and it all came from my first fringe jacket. It was only a matter of time that I added to my collection this time shopping closer to home with this beauty from Aymee Charlton.
I love showcasing my favourite local designers at LFW and as soon as I lay eyes on this organic cotton jacket with detachable woolen trim, I knew it had to be mine. Fringing has been pushed back into our wardrobes since festival season, but if the SS16 shows has taught us anything, it’s that the 70’s renaissance is going no where till at least next summer – with thanks to the likes of Holly Fulton (swoon). Since the weather took a turn for the better, I ended up changing my original outfit plans and matched my fringe dream with a patchwork skirt from Mink Pink, and now what I will call my LFW boots from Boden. I adore the two tones and am already convinced that I need more knee high boots in my life. Stat.
The seventies has always been such an inspiring period in fashion for me, giving an air of fun and sophistication which can be tricky to do at once! No matter how you wear your fringing, it is impossible to not have fun in it. The more you move the better it looks, so anyone who doesn’t dance and strut their way down the street simply aren’t doing it right!

There are so many different ways you can incorporate fringing into your wardrobe and now we know that we will be here at LEAST another year, it’s a great excuse to invest. While a fringed jacket like mine will never go out of style, a clutch with long, suede strips is giving it a run for its money. Will you be swinging in fringing anytime soon?
that jacket is gorgeous! I’m in love <3
