It’s not often you get a champagne escort to the capital for a fancy pants party, so when you do dammit dress for the occasion! This was pretty much my thought process when choosing an appropriate outfit for the Jenners Edinburgh International Festival Party within one of the oldest department stores in the country. Forget snakes and ladders, I was all about the snakes and leather.

I know it may be a faux pas to wear a dress purchased within a rival department store but I was so well behaved at keeping my limited edition Hayley Scanlan under wraps for Honey Pop’s wedding I couldn’t help myself. I have been constantly restyling this dress all the ways in my head, jumpers, trainers, textures the lot. When I go to these kinds of events I really love to keep it local as it is a great conversation opener! Especially if it’s as pretty and unusual as this little local number.

For the wedding I went very girly with fluffy shoes and glossy curls. This time I wanted an edgier look with a slick low pony, leather jacket and black accessories. I love these plastic black peep shoes from Boohoo, I got them in the sale a while ago for £12 and when I say they owe me nothing I mean it. They are incredibly comfy and the double strap totally gives them a luxe finish.

When you look and feel the snake print on my Scanlan number, it is hard to believe it’s not real. Talking to Hayley at the launch of the collection, she said it’s the only of it’s kind that she has ever seen which is why the dress is so limited. The fact that she can’t get her hands on more of the fabric just made me fall in love with it more! That and its cute racer front and flirty dropped waist no less. I finished the look with some more local accessories, namely my favourite Bonnie Bling Betty ring (buy yours here now) and Georgia Wiseman Sirus Earrings.

If you are loving the snake as much as I am you need to check out the rest of Hayley’s collection. Her mainline pieces are just to die for and if you are quick you can still snap up my dress in sizes Small and Large. Thank you so much to House of Fraser to inviting me to such an incredible party, the store looked beautiful and it was incredible to meet such interesting people around the festival. Have you headed through for some fun yet?

forever yours betty
