The other week, myself and Bee headed down to the capitol (on election day no less) to have a look at what’s to come this Autumn / Winter. I know, I know, we’re barely having enough sun to make it Spring nevermind Summer, but as a Scottish girl, A/W always has and will always be my favourite season for dressing. From statement coats, boots and scarves, its all about layering and wearing all the things at the same time. This year has without a doubt been the year of the Boden. Although a well-known brand in Britain, I had never really came across them before falling in love with their products over Instagram. So when they invited us for a tour around their very own custom Boden High Street, how could we say no?

The new collection was called All Hail New British, which as you could imagine made me the happiest girl in the world. I am really clamping down on where I buy my clothes from, wanting to know where they were made and how ethically they were produced. Everyone knows if it’s made in Britain then it’s sure as hell built to last, so it was fantastic to hear that Boden were celebrating this transition with a quintessentially British collection. I would like to highlight not everything has been made in the UK, but it is something you can see that Boden are striving for. If only the rest of the high street felt the same!

Awesome new British Photo by Pretty Posh Oh My Gosh

British Fashion has always been at the forefront of the industry, so it was a breath of fresh air to see what was once a ‘yummy mummy’ brand has worked it’s way into the wardrobes of the fashion elite. To celebrate being made in Britain, Boden decided to look back at some iconic moments in British fashion and reinvent some key pieces for a new era. The great thing about this collection is that they have taken staples pieces and given them a contemporary makeover. There will always be trends that come round in circles; military, suade, parka’s, tartan, they all make an appearance in this quintessentially British collection. After all, fashion should be fun so it was great to see the perfect mix of classic and personality pieces to set off any outfit.

My favourite ‘shop’ on the Boden High Street had to be the new Icons collection. The first (i hope of many!) Boden Icons is a  limited-edition range of statement pieces using luxe fabrics, silhouettes and techniques. Again, Boden decided to encapsulate the spirit of British style by reflecting on pieces that would be worn by our most stylish icons both in the past and present days. I wandered around this room about 5 or 6 times, turning around and falling in love with one piece after another. My favourite has to be the midi length military skirt. The collection came straight from the suppliers so it was so new they hadn’t even shot the lookbook yet! That’s a preview alright!  I have a strong feeling these will be the cult products of A/W15 so keep your eyes open for the release, especially as this full collection is limited to only 100 available in each item. Can I just have it all now please?

It seems that Brenton stripes are a classic style that just wont go away. But why would we want them too? A stripe tee is something every girl should have in her wardrobe (in various colours) it’s the sort of piece you wear until it has holes in it..  Be it horizontal, vertical, fat and chunky, or pinstripe thin, I love me some stripes in my tees, coats and erm shoes? You know I’m a go big or go home kind of girl so I just went for all of the above for my day in the big smoke.

Stripe a Pose: Jacket – Nicole Farhi, Top and Espadrilles – Boden, Jeans – Topshop (distressed), Watch – Caravelle New York

There’s something about stripes that instantly  evoke visions of sunny days spent ‘doon the water’, make those stripes yellow stripes and dammit you are just sunshine! It was impossible not to feel great in this outfit. I loved how each piece was a slightly different shade of yellow, but all went together fabulously. I’m really not used to wearing completely flat shoes, but these espadrilles were a dream come true. I think I will wear this outfit again but with white jeans or even a dressy flair and a different shoe, either way this won’t be the last time you’ll see me all about the Boden. Have you shopped around their online store yet?

forever yours betty
