When one of your favourite online retailers asks you to write about your home town for their blog, an overwhelming sense of pride comes over you. Biting my Glasgow tongue when it came to the language, I weighed up the places that I go to on a regular basis and that I would recommend to locals and passers by. Check out my Missguided Tour of Glasgow, and see below for the places that JUST missed the cut…

What to Wear

In short, Scottish weather means you need to be prepared for everything. Wind, rain, shine, hail, heatwaves, all of it. I chose to keep cosy and wear some distressed denims, shirt and jumper and this seasons essential – the Camel Coat. I always like to spruce up comfy outfits with interesting accessories. I completely fell for this Veiled bobble beanie and furry clutch with reomovable chain. Layers and textures for me is key. My full outfit is from Missguided and you can find it all here:  Tsanna beanie hatKimberley Waterfall coatCamilla BroguesDaphne Faux Fur ClutchDylan Boyfriend Jeans & Pujita Sweatshirt in Green.

Where to Shop

Abandon Ship Apparel, Princes Square, Glasgow

Abandon Ship Apparel is fast becoming the Glasgow street style uniform. As you walk down the street it is an absolute pleasure to see how it has been styled so differently across the board. I love when they come out with limited edition numbers like this Slime one for their Glasgow store’s first birthday / Halloween celebrations. Keep in mind there sample sale is coming up this Sunday the 9th of November from 11am.

Minted, King Street, Glasgow

Minted is an absolute hidden treasure. Tucked away on the corner of King Street, Minted holds the absolute best in second hand clothing. We’re not talking your straight up vintage, we’re talking Westwood, Fred Perry, Versace – the lot! Spruce up an average outfit with something local, sustainable and all round fabulous.

Where to Eat – Sandwich Special

Piece, Great Western Road, Glasgow

Fast becoming a Glasgow institution, Piece has everything you would ever want in a sandwich: fresh ingredients, good bread, fantastic coffee from Dear Green and some of the friendliest staff. If I’m feeling fancy I usually opt for their Thai Pork covered in coriander and seeds, however their Dirty Fat Boy does wonders for a hangover!

River Hill, Gordon Street, Glasgow

River Hill is my pay day (or good day) treat. I love that they have a selection of sandwiches, pre prepared for you to choose from. I believe it makes the selection process that bit easier, and makes you choose something different most visits. A little bit pricer than my other sandwich faves but the taste makes you forget you’ve spent more on a sandwiches than you did on dinner. It’s hard to reccomend one sandiwch but i can officially say that their egg mayo is the best in the bis.

Where to Eat

Hutchesons, Ingram Street, Glasgow

Right, so I have only been here for brunch – twice – but it has honestly been the best damn brunch a girl could ask for. Everyone expects a perfect poach with their benedict but lets face it, more often than not you are left disappointed, Hutchesons are most defeintely an exception to this rule. the perfect place to feel fancy on a Sunday, head here and have a wonder round the gorgeous ex – hospital setting. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in Glasgow so makes it doubley worth a visit!

Ox and Finch, Sauchihall Street, Glasgow

A newbe to the Glasgow restaurant scene, Ox and Finch have definetely opened with a bang with their reservations ACTUALLY going like hot cakes. I’ve only actually eaten here once and we had to squeeze in the communal table – which I actually quite enjoyed – it is honestly some of the best food I have tried. Their house wine is delicious, the staff are helpful and everything comes out like a Foodstagram dream. Definitely worth a shout – if you can get in!

Where to Hang Out

The Glasgow Gin Club, Various Locations, Glasgow

The Gin Club is exactly that, a club for people who love Gin taught by people who love Gin the most. It is such a great night out trying and testing Gins you didn’t even know existed in ways you never even knew you could. They usually meet in the stunning Hidden Lane tea room but you can catch up on where they’ll be next on their facebook. Gin jelly anyone?

The Hill, Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow

OK so I thought that this option would have been a strange one to put in my Missguided recommendation but everyone knows the only place to hang out above 15 degrees has got to be the Kelvingrove Hill. Roll up with your pals, see your other friends are already there and in turn make more pals is pretty much The Hill ritual – well that of course and watching the ooccasionaltaps aff fight where even the neds end up pals in the end – ah Glasgow.

There are so many places that I absolutely love in Glasgow. I think I may start some sort of monthly recommendation or something, there are tones of new places popping up that I’d love to try so may as well put the testing to good use! Where would you recommend in Glasgow?

forever yours betty
