It is not every day you find out that a high street giant found success on our own turf, so I was thrilled when Ted Baker asked me to an intimate dinner with eh… Mr Ted Baker (AKA Ray Kelvin) and company to hear all about the brands return to Glasgow, and their stunning new concept store on Buchanan Street.

You know when you just meet a person and you know you are gonna get on well? Well that was my thoughts with the whole Ted Baker team. Their enthusiasm and quirky nature made me feel right at home as I walked into Glasgow’s famous Buttery restaurant. After dinner was served and the inappropriate jokes were told, I felt right at home within the Ted Baker family. I loved hearing all about their journey and the close knit team that has remained throughout, it was a lovely change to the usual press nights with small talk. I feel like I got to know Ted Baker and if you didn’t already know? He’s a HOOT!

The next morning we were invited to an exclusive press breakfast within the new store. As soon as I walked in I looked up and automatically jaw dropped. Inspired by our ‘Great Scots’, the store showcases our city’s greatest inventors, artists, architects and scientists, it is almost a history lesson built into a shopping experience! The store also has some ultra cool techno features, myself and Thank Fifi had a great time playing with the changing rooms interactive screens which allow customers to try on several outfits, take a photograph and share with your pals on social media! Shopping never got so fun!

“Each store is unique and themed but Ted’s Glasgow store is the digital store to set the tone and social will come through in the new stores going forward globally. Ted doesn’t roll out a one size fits all approach,”

Any why would they? If you are heading into town, whether you are a usual Ted Baker shopper or not, I would recommend you go check out this store. Have a proper look around and prepare to be amazed at all the attention to detail from the Charles Rennie McIntosh light fixtures to the Irn Bru hearts of their skeletons. Ted, you done Glasgow proud!
