If you are anything like me, then as soon as January hits you are already looking forward to Spring. It is my favourite time of year; lightweight jackets replace the furs, daring to bare (a leg) or in this case just looking at the new S/S 14 Prada Campaign!
If there is anyone in the world who knows how to create a vibe of female empowerment, it’s Miuccia Prada. Resembling possibly the most bad ass varsity squad to put Bring it On to shame, Steven Meisel captured 18 models serving nothing but FACE throughout the campaign, all that’s missing is the football, however I’d take the purses anyday!
A lady after my own heart, Prada’s inspiration behind the collection is to find new ways to empower woman through expressing themselves with clothing (PREECH!)
“I saw them as strong, visible fighters. We need to be fighters in general. There is this debate about women again, and I want to interpret it. My instrument is fashion. I use my instrument to be bold. I had this idea that if you wear clothes so exaggerated and out there, people will look, and then they will listen”
What a wummin. I feel like she has reflected this well in the collection both in the way she represented them in the show, and in the campaign. Showcasing bold, emotive paintings of women (and bras!) by muralists El Mac, Mesa, Gabriel Specter, Stinkfish, Jeanne Detallante and Pierre Mornet this was an amalgamation of colour, embellishment, streetwear, glamour, elegance and art. The models stomped down the runway with bare faces and pop socks to the sound of none other than Britney’s ‘Work Bitch’. No two looks are similar, no accessory doubled, this was an anything goes collection, and I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF IT!
Gies yer face(s) and yer jaiket Can’t get enough of these stunning illustrations, will you be rocking your bra on your dresss? Out goes the winter, in with the spring fur! I need this coat more than I’ve needed anything. Ever. Beauty and Brains. One of the stunning paintings from the set of the show in September, also similar seen on shift dressesI want me some Prada street art lady face clothes! Will you be getting inspired by Prada this spring? Pass me the paintbrush…
I love the face Prada coat. I just went to my friend’s photo shoot and that jacket was there. It was beautiful in person. Great post =)
