If you’re bound and determined to go out this week (instead of ordering a pre-Christmas stuffed crust and catching up in The OI on Netflix), first off, I tip my digital hat to you. That’s more effort than most are willing to put into their Friday and Saturday combined when the temperatures are this cold and the snuggle is this tempting. That being said, if you are daring to step outside it best be in something festive, comfy and cozy too, with extra points for shopping local. Enter, Edinburgh-based knitwear brand, Yellow Bubble.

Founded by Gray’s graduate Jenny McCraw, Yellow Bubble is basically putting the cute and contemporary back into luxury knitwear.  With not-so-basic crops, classic jumpers and fluffy finishes galore, this Scottish designer is sassing up the traditional textile as we know it, and this custom maxi dress is no exception.

Made from exceedingly soft Scottish wool and trimmed with ombre orange fluff, you have never seen a sweater dress like it. Oversized, slightly sheer and batwing sleeves, you couldn’t ask for a better party dress that fit both camps of comfort and festive sultry. Really, I am just glad to find something sustainable, classic, and not completely covered in sequins at this time of year. And I mean, just look at it.

Either worn over jeans, with some patent boots or with a pair of strappy sandals like me, sweater dresses do not need to be kept for the comfy days. Be the bell of the ball and let those jaws drop in a new kind of knitwear. Check out Yellow Bubble’s full collection and stay tuned for SS17, I know I will be.
