So ‘Personal Branding’ has become quite the buzzword in blogging these days. There are so many webinars, how to’s and courses from ‘experts’ but in my opinion, self-branding really doesn’t need to be that complicated. I recently decided my blog was long overdue a makeover to reflect who I am and what I’m doing now (grey and pink? What was I thinking?!) The real challenge was finding the perfect artist to collaborate with who ‘got’ me and my brand. Really, I knew all along who I wanted no, needed to work with, and boy was I glad he said yes!

Branding is creating something recognisable around yourself, so for me it could only be orange. Since I’m all about shopping indie, it was really important to me to work with a local artist in creating the perfect branding. I wanted something that was not only known to the artist style of work, but also reflected my brand personality. I have been a huge lover of Street Art for some time and if you have ever been to Glasgow then it would be impossible to not recognise the work of Bullet Beard. Moving on from his urban roots, Bullet Beard is now dead and has  resurrected as Globel Bros – AKA Ciaran Globel – specialising in the lost art of sign painting.

Creating the perfect balance between street art and sign painting is a style that is becoming synonymous with Ciaran’s work and I cannot get enough. Found across iconic spots in Glasgow from Irn Bru canisters (I mean…) to the Grosvenor Cinema walls, this third generation painter has carved his own path with his use of bold striking fonts and colour. I really wanted to have a brand identity that was Glaswegian as I am, and really there is no one who fit the bill better than Ciaran Globel. Irn-BRU-01web

If like me you are a sucker for typography, murals and shit hot interesting design, I would start following his Instagram immediately (@ciaranglobel), you may even be walking past his work and not even know it! Just make sure you stop and take it all in next time. Bullet Beard may be dead, but long live the art of sign painting. Thanks again to Ciaran for my incredible new design, ‘make it orange and cute’ isn’t much of a brief, but somehow you just knew exactly what I wanted. What a talented bugger. Didn’t he nail it? Tell him how great he is over twitter @ciaran_globel.

forever yours betty
