There must have been a memo distributed  this past Fashion Week about how to wear your handbag this season.  Turns out when it comes to bags, straps are getting shorter and layering isn’t just for your body, and it’s just in time too! Glasgow’s St. Enoch Centre is hosting ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ event this weekend to celebrate everything about our favourite accessory. So I did a little haul to see what they have on offer and if people watching has told me anything, its that I shouldn’t stop at just one…

I’m not the first one to notice that everyone has been wearing their handbags cross body for a few months now, although the real difference seems to be all in the strap length. Instead of brushing your hips with every strut, handbags are hiked up to waist height and placed at the front of the body.  Sure, you think this is just a tiny tweak, but really it ups your outfit anti with one quick adjustment. I found this oh so cute mini bag in H&M for just £7.99. With it’s short strap, small size, faux crocodile effect in a classic tan, you couldn’t get more perfect to hit this trend running. From nights out to nips to the shops, this little baby keeps your valuables close to your heart and right at your fingertips. But what if you are the kinda girl who needs the kitchen sink with her at all occasions? Luckily  you can have your cake and eat it too.

You know the dilemma: it’s a work day, you’re faced with a full day of meetings and a foldable tote just won’t do. You need your purse, make up, iPad, flats for later and still have to have space for any purchases throughout the day (note: Scotland charges for carrier bags). But, there’s an easy trick to looking at least somewhat put-together even at your sleepiest, and it’s as simple as throwing all your workday essentials into a well-defined and structured bag. Yes, turns out toting around a lovely structured carryall can immediately distinguish your fashion forward business woman realness from just another sleepyhead. I found this gorgeous structured Olive number, again from H&M for £34.99. It’s a dead ringer for a classic Celine and let me tell you, fits EVERYTHING! It is actually deceptively bigger than it looks, perfect for the girl who wants to (bring) it all!
