Tartan, plaid, checked – whatever you call it, it should certainly deserve a spot in your wardrobe in some shape or form. After hunting for a pair of tartan trousers in Scotland for what feels like a lifetime, low and behold  I came across the perfect pair in central London. I had pre-planned another outfit for day 5, but I couldn’t help myself and decided to go all patriotic for the last day of LFW.

The day started with us packing up our suitcases wondering how we managed to fit everything in the first place! We were staying at the Travelodge at Central Kings Cross making it so much easier getting around during the fast paced times of LFW.  The building itself was stunning and beautifully lit at night, giving the true feel of old London. Our room was pretty basic but really had everything you would need, really it was all in the location, location, location.

With a wee breakfast buffet to set you up every morning and comfy bed to rest your head you really couldn’t ask for in a LFW hotel. The one thing i would note is, is there was no holding area to keep bags if you were leaving later than the 3pm late check out. We were getting the Megabus Gold sleeper home at 11pm, so after dropping off our bags at the holding area in Victoria station we were well on our way to enjoy an afternoon at The Apartment before our last day of shows.

The Apartment is always a LFW highlight. With comfy sitting areas, charging stations, incredible brands as well as fantastic company to get to know, once you arrive you never want to leave! Every season a new penthouse is chosen as if plucked from a Pinterest dream. After a freshen up from the girls at illamasqua and Hershesons, it was out to strut around in my brand new boots from Boden and I can honestly say they’ve hardly been off my feet since then!

When you get a good pair of boots, they become somewhat of an addiction. These ankle length brown suede Boden bad boys literally go with everything i fling at them, especially my new favourite tartan trousers. It’s so ironic after hunting through charity and vintage shops in Scotland I found my goldilocks pair right in the heart of London, at Beyond Retro.

Trousers: Beyond Retro, Boots: Boden

Tartan trousers found in Central London and made from 100% wool in Scotland, go figure?  The go-to favourite of golfers, prep lovers and punks, the tartan trouser seems not for the timid. They’re loud, bold and can even veer into the ridiculous but tartan can make the perfect statement piece to add to your wardrobe. I teamed mine with my go to Topshop sheer ribbed polo in navy to really let the trousers do the talking. I hadn’t yet had the chance to wear my fringed jacket and to be honest, I wasn’t lugging it all the way to LFW and not wear it! Luckily the neutral colour pulled the outfit all together and added some on trend fringing to boot. Even though it was the last day of LFW, I found my outfit a little too casual than my usual OTT get up so of course, I did what I always do and add yet another statement accessory, this time in the shape of a strawberry scarf by Sara Sboul!

There was already a lot going on but I felt the cute little Strawberry’s on the Buffy scarf still let the fringing and tartan shine – how sweet of them! Myself and Bee ended up heading for a last meal with our new favourite friend Ms Sboul where she told us the scarf shape originally came from one she once owned as a kid. I love hearing the back stories behind designs and it makes me love it even more, if possible?!  I’m so glad  that I went for something cute and comfy to wear as we ended up running through Victoria station with ton weights on our back haul assing it for the last Megabus Gold home! We made it, JUST,  with only seconds to spare! I say it every season but this year really was the best London Fashion Week for me, from our hotel location, the shows and the people, there really is nothing like it. Next up, Tartan Week in NYC and I now have just the trousers in mind to take with me! Watch out Big Apple!

forever yours betty
