About three to four times a year, myself and some girlfriends get together to watch the incredible Scottish Ballet perform at the Glasgow, Theatre Royal. This time round we were taken to the dark side to watch the The Crucible with Dylan Thomas’s Ten Poems and needless to say it was my favourite trip yet.

IMG_8652 Read by the oh so dreamy Richard Burton, Ten Poems had me on the edge of my seat with fight scenes and pin drop silences. After a short break it was onto Arthur Miller’s 1953 play The Crucible, the tale of the historic Salem witch trials where jealousy, betrayal and sin build up to a dramatic climax. Scottish Ballet done a fantastic job modernising the piece with an incredible Aphex Twin-ny sounding soundtrack complimenting the drama, not to mention the musical cameos from Hitchcocks finest, Vertigo and Psycho.

It is always appropriate to dress for the ballet so for me a dress or a skirt is a must have. I have been making a conscious effort to wear more of my clothes (sounds obvious but hey) so I chose to wear this great skirt I picked up ages ago in the Topshop sale. I pulled two colours from the skirt to work from and paired with with a Navy shirt (tied not tucked), Navy boots and my favourite London purchase – my fluffy clutch bag. This was definetely THE bag to have during LFW. You could barely walk round a corner without spying it either in black, pink or mustard. I ended up going for the pink because it reminded me of a little fluffy shrimp, because of course that’s a reason to want an accessory… The weather has been doing a loop de loop and I have been hopping in-between jackets and coats these days. It was the first outing of the season for my old faithful Glad Rags Vintage trench and I love it just as much as last year. I gave her a wee freshen in a delicate wash and voila! Good as new for another season. Do you have any favourites in your wardrobe that need a spruce? forever yours betty
