Well folks, its that time of year again and I for one can’t wait for 2012. Its been a pretty emotional year to say the least and 2012 is coming forth with so much promise. Since I have many plans for the year I needed to limit my spending. I constricted myself to a £100 budget for the sales and after Daddy Swollock donated £100 to the fund for Christmas I was ready to enjoy the sales! Some sacrifices were made but I am very happy with my choices to get the year off to a very happy and stylish start.

This Seasons Sale Savvy Bargains

The first stop was ASOS. I was one of their lucky preview customers who managed to snoop around 2 weeks earlier than the launch! Here’s my picks…

ASOS Harlequin Print Midi Pencil Skirt Was £30 Now: £18
ASOS Duck Egg Blue Centre Split Pencil Was £30 Now: £12
ASOS Black Polo Top: Was £12 Now: £6 Teamed with Skirt and Warhouse Coat

For my works night out I decided to channel Ms Monroe by wearing the polo with the harlequin number together. Its the ultimate wiggle skirt and I think I could wear it right through the summer. The Centre Split skirt caught my eye after finding one almost identical – in another colour – 2 years ago in a charity shop. Its a really flattering shape AND the length covers my old man knees. Phew. I was so happy with the colour, I’m a sucker for this tone and its all over S/S12 coupled with crisp white just like my peely wally skin. I added a festive touch to work by wearing it with my fourth Sale Savvy Purchase. The Biba Lurex Polo top.

Biba Gold Lurex Polo Top Was: £85 Now: £21 Teamed with ASOS Skirt and Office Boots

I don’t really understand why I purchased 2 Polo’s in 4 weeks. I don’t think I have owned one since I was about 11 but I feel like they are classics and maybe my style is just maturing…In saying that, maybe I spoke too soon about a mature style when buying my next bargain. This Warehouse 60’s Pink Dolly Shift Coat.

Warehouse Coat Was £95 Now: £25.20

What a purchase this was, it was on promotion from the original sale price of £35 and I also got it on my House of Fraser staff card. How much joy this coat brings. The past week has been full of miserable weather and tore faced shoppers invading my work. The only highlight of my day is skipping about with this wee stunnur on my back. The shiny gold buttons compliment the roughness of the wool and adds a childlike nostalgia to it. Cheers up anyones day if you ask me!

I had been eyeing up the Night Rush boots from Office for months now. After looking at all colours the Black and Leopard were the ones I longed for. I pictured them with everything, you could imagine my disappointment after waiting patiently to find that they were NOT GOING TO BE PUT IN THE SALE!!!! Yes, there was a small amount of despair until fate happened…there they were..one pair alone in the corner…I remember bad mouthing the lack lustre gold and navy but after discovering the last pair were in my size, a try on was a must. They were cute but the original sale price was £55 and I didn’t think I was gonna get enough wear, after closer inspection I realised that there were marks in the suede and scratches on the heel so managed to barter a tenner off! These have already been worn most of the week and didn’t really need to break them in! They even handled a whole day in work then a party and actually go with pretty much most of my wardrobe!! What a pair…

Office ‘Night Rush’ Boots Was: £92 Now: £45

Topshop was my next stop and I thought this would be the most challenging to keep to my budget. I knew I needed an extra special New Years dress and definitely found it in this….

Topshop Smudge Animal Print Dress Was: £60 Now: £30

I also added to my now borderline obsessive leopard print fetish by buying this classic leopard print midi skirt. It has a really soft silk feel to it and feels amazing to wear. This will come in handy in the summer!

Leopard Fetish (Last) Topshop Leopard Print Midi Swing Skirt Was: £45 Now: £25

My last and very much FINAL sale purchase had to be from my beloved Whistles. These – yet again – leopard print high waisted jeans will be worn to death all throughout 2012 and beyond. They are great casual with a tshirt or smart with something like the new ASOS polo. What a good price too and I also got these on my Staff Card from the original price of £35. The high waist makes these jeans perfect for me as it makes them so much more versatile for more summery looks. Sale Shopping, done and done.

Whistles Leopard Print High Waisted Capri Jeans Was: £125 Now: £28

So, lets get to the results. If I bought everything full price total spend would have been £574. My Sale Savvy Results showed that I saved a massive £364!!!! Unfortunately I did go out of my budget (who’dvethunkit?!) but only by £10! So I think I’ll forgive me. There were many things that I wish I could have taken with me but 3 skirts, 2 tops, a pair of shoes and a Wool coat for £210 and 20 pence? Job well done.

How did you guys get on this season? I really love to share a good bargain, the thrill adds to the wonder of the wearing keep me up to date with a wee tweet to @bettyswollocks1. I for one can’t wait to strut my stuff at Osmium at Blackfriars this New Year. Rumour has it its sold out so if your lucky enough to have a ticket, I’ll see you sexy folks on the dance floor…

See you all in 2012!

Forever yours,

Betty xoxo
